Let the Festivities Begin

Had a busy, non-stop weekend of various activities – some of which I’m still feeling the effects from.

Saturday consisted of some yard cleanup, 2 and 1/2 hours of flag football in the sun (I can’t believe how sore I am), and dinner at PF Changs with our friend Dawn and her new boyfriend. After dinner, we hit up Aloma bowl and joined some other friends for night bowling. I have to note that this bowling alley was quite nifty. All kinds of cash prizes were awarded throughout, and the lanes supported COUCHES! How awesome is that?

Sunday I found myself as usual at my favorite sports bar, Devaney’s, cheering on the Bears with my crew over there. It’s about time we hold Favre from doing practically anything he wants against us. No TD’s, 2 INT’s, and just an old fashioned beat down of the Pack. It’s nice to have an aggressive defense that makes plays. After the game, I hit up the yard once again for a power cleanup, jumped in the shower, and headed to the House of Blues for a Jason Mraz concert.

A Great Run

Procrastination“To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness.”

Ethan & I have finally moved out of our Alexan Club (now the Visconti) townhome. Well, I should say COMPLETELY moved out. We started the process a little over a month ago, and have since become quite comfortable in our new homes. We’ve known that eventually we would be forced back over there before August 1st hit – and we both dreaded it. The townhome required some serious clean up, and we each still had all kinds of items scattered throughout that needed either moved or tossed to the garbage. I’ve brought Yogi over my last couple of trips to keep me company while cleaning and packing up. He seems to be enjoying the luxuries of the new home that the townhome didn’t provide – like a large yard, and the non-existence of stairs & flea prone carpet.

It felt good to slap down my key and the garage door opener on the kitchen counter. But, I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t bittersweet. Not to get overly sappy, but this building will reside in our hearts forever. There have been some monumental moments take place here during our 3 year run. It provided a perfect opportunity for Ethan & I to work together – without the need of an office. We grew in knowledge and expanded our businesses dramatically during these years, and it flourished because of our living arrangement and our close proximity to the WildCard office. If it wasn’t for this time together, we probably wouldn’t be sitting in an amazing office right now. The ping pong battles will forever be remembered, especially that one night where the competition was so intense – we had the cops called on us. Yes, that is a true story. The grillouts, gaming, the numerous hurricanes we faced, friends & family members that have come and gone, “Wings”, netflix nights, and everything inbetween – all outstanding memories.

A great run indeed…well, except for the times when I couldn’t find a clean cereal bowl & spoon to save my life. Where were they you ask? Well, 9 times out of 10 I’d find at least 5-6 stacked (not mentioning they were all crusted & stuck together) in Ethan’s bathroom. Yea, those were the low moments of our time shared. But, it could have been worse. At least he stacked them in one spot. :)

"I feel the need…

the need, for SPEED!

Take a moment with me and think of something that you’ve desired for a REALLY long time. Something monetary, and within reason of course. I’m not just talking about an item you’ve stumbled across on eBay a few days ago, I’m talking years back. Something that since you were a child, you’ve wanted so bad that you could taste. But, there has always been a reason for holding back. Whether it be financially, place of residence, other priorities at the time – you name it. You’ve had reminders on a monthly, weekly, and sometimes daily occasion since you were that child, making that desire exponentially grow. But, those reminders kept your hope alive and just when you thought the passion had been lost – it struck right back up again stronger than ever.

Well, the stars finally aligned for myself last Monday, and I was able to venture out and make this dream I’ve described (so intensely) a reality. That little voice in my head said, “it’s go time” – and I kindly agreed. :)

Without further adieu, I introduce you to the “Black Raven”. It’s mean, it’s lean, and it’s the ’05 limited editeeen. That’s right folks, I purchased a motorcycle – the Yamaha YZF-R6. I’ve had my eye on the Yamaha R6′s for about 4 years now, and was truly obsessed with the Blue model until this “Black Raven” edition was introduced last year. The red accents on the wheels and body put me over the top, and I never looked back at the Yamaha blue color.

Here it sits at Cycle Sports Center here in Orlando, receiving a pipe transplant. I saw this custom Micron pipe within the store, and I just had to have it. The stock pipe was just way too obtrusive and plain to go on such an incredible looking bike. The new pipe (as shown below) is a gradient from red to black – which is quite sweet. That, and it adds a little bit more horsepower than the stock pipe. Here’s a little interesting tid bit to munch on. The bike, with standard/stock parts, kicks out a total of 123 hp. That’s just crazy considering my Jeep pumps out 181 hp, and weighs 8 times the amount of the bike. Hard to believe, I know.

Now since I don’t have my motorcycle license, or even a learners permit yet, I had them throw it on a trailer and follow me home. If you’re reading this, and live in the Orlando area, AND searching for a bike – go check out Cycle Sports Center on John Young. Ask for Mike, one of the sales guys. He was extremely helpful and professional all the way from our initial “hello” to his “thanks for your biz, have fun man!”.

Doesn’t it look perty?

I have enrolled in Motorcycle Safety classes the weekend of August 6th. Am I waiting to ride until then? Ha, yea right – would you? I quickly went out to the DMV and passed the written test after three diligent attempts (maybe I should have studied a bit eh?) and currently posses a 90 day learners permit. My only restriction is ‘No Passengers’. So, basically I can ride wherever and whenever in which gives me some nice practice until our class begins.

I’ve never owned a brand new vehicle before, so seeing 5 miles on the Odometer is a bit surreal for me at this point. It’s a nice feeling knowing that no one but yourself has ever owned the vehicle, especially a bike because of the strict break-in period. Once I hit 600 miles, and that break-in period is completed, I’ll be taking it back into CSC to replace the factory installed synthetic oil back with standard petroleum. The Black Raven will also have a few maintenance items attended to so I can keep this bad boy purring.

Let the fun begin!

This is what happens to a fridge when a hurricane knocks your power out for a few days. This is assuming that the building it resides in, and fridge itself doesn’t get destroyed by the strong winds and tornadic weather.
