Bears / Falcons 2009

Heading out of town this afternoon with a buddy (Falcon fan) to spend the weekend in Atlanta. The game is on Sunday Night Football, so we’ve been looking forward to this trip since the NFL schedule was released. I have a couple other friends from Orlando that bought tix last minute, and Brandon is also heading down with 22 (yes, 22) Bears fans for their annual road trip. Chaos is looming.

There hasn’t been much trash talk yet, but by the time we role into that Atlanta parking lot for tailgating, I would imagine it’ll be on like donkey kong. I wasn’t able to attend any Bears games in person last season, so I couldn’t be more pumped. Two 3-1 NFC teams going at it on Prime Time!

Recovery time from Vegas

After many troubles with our travels and plans, Luke and I successfully completed the Vegas ’04 spring trip. I’m back into the daily grind, letting my mind and body recover after 4 crazy days.

The trip has left me quite broke, but the memories are priceless! The entire trip recap will eventually be posted in the News section, with pics & of course my witty captions. Until then, this small collage sums it all up!

Where am I? NOT VEGAS!

Guess where I am tonight? Vegas? Nope, try CINCINNATI!!!

What a day! After barely catching the bus from Rockford to Chicago (thanks to Dad for goin’ 90 on the Interstate), things progressively get worse before I eventually got stuck in Cincinnati with a rescheduled flight the next morning. Here’s the scoop.

Chicago flight out of O’hare @ 5:45 pm > Cinci connection flight > Vegas @ 9:45 > Hotel checkin > Party begins

Instead, this is what happened:

In Chicago, we taxied around the runway for about 30 min., waited for 20 (yes 20) planes to take off in front of us, and eventually reached the air about an hour later. We arrived in Cinci, I ran off the plane, found the nearest Delta agent and optimistically asked “Vegas?.” She lifted her arm, finger pointed, and directed me to the ticketing counter where a hotel voucher (which didn’t even cover all of the expense!), a pitiful overnight bag, & a flight out the next morning at 9 am awaited myself and 11 other people. BUMMER!!!

So now I sit alone at the Drawbridge Inn (which was in Kentucky), wondering what it must be like to fly into Vegas at night. The darkness of the desert, and then WHAM, the blast of Vegas illuminating the sky. Luke had waited at my baggage claim with a LIMO, which was a SURPRISE, until he finally checked his voicemail and found word of the chaos. Being disheartened, he rode the Limo alone to the Palms and checked in under my name.

On the brightside, I had a heck of a ham & cheese omelette at the Drawbridge around 1 am. :)

Vegas baby, Vegas! 21 days and counting!

I’ll be flying to Chicago on the 19th for a high school friend’s wedding reception in Iowa the next day, spending time with the fam till Wed. the 24th, and then meeting my boys Luke & Frank out in Vegas that night! They have a flight together & will be arriving aprx. 15 minutes before I do. I’m sure to find them in one of the airport’s bars getting things warmed up.

We’re staying at the Palms Resort Wed. and Thurs. night, then to a place called Tropicana the next 2 nights. It’s going to be one heck of a trip!
