Bears / Falcons 2009

Heading out of town this afternoon with a buddy (Falcon fan) to spend the weekend in Atlanta. The game is on Sunday Night Football, so we’ve been looking forward to this trip since the NFL schedule was released. I have a couple other friends from Orlando that bought tix last minute, and Brandon is also heading down with 22 (yes, 22) Bears fans for their annual road trip. Chaos is looming.

There hasn’t been much trash talk yet, but by the time we role into that Atlanta parking lot for tailgating, I would imagine it’ll be on like donkey kong. I wasn’t able to attend any Bears games in person last season, so I couldn’t be more pumped. Two 3-1 NFC teams going at it on Prime Time!

’05 Playoffs

I’ve been on edge this entire week. The Bears, as everyone should know, are on the verge of getting to the NFC Championship. Some trash talk has been coming out of the Chicago lockeroom – a little uncharacteristic – but I firmly believe we’re going to get it done. “Carolina’s running game has improved since the last meeting”, “look at what they did to the Giants”, “the Bears have inexperience at QB”, the “weather won’t be a factor”. Yes, I’ve heard it all. Simple fact of the matter is that our defense is aggressive, healthy, and confident – and our running game will move the ball. Sexy Rexy (thanks PTI) does give us a dynamic element on offense and a boost of confidence – which everyone knows is vital during the playoffs.

I’m calling it right now, Bears win 17-6. Bears [Grossman to Moose for 1 TD, Thomas Jones goes for 1 TD, and a FG] Carolina [2 FG's]

Because of my anticipation for the game, I’ve not only been on edge but I’ve also been a research freak. I’ve spanned the internet searching for commentary, articles, radio broadcasts, blogs, scouting reports, expert picks – you name it I’ve been there. I’m talking nationally AND locally, man I love the ESPN Insider services! It consumes a lot of my time during the week, probably too much. Its been a while since we’ve been in this position – so I’m taking it all in! Lets just say I should be on the sideline next to Lovie tomorrow calling some of the plays.

It’s always a pleasure seeing the Bears on the front page of espn.com. This is twice now in a matter of a couple of days. I love it.

Kickoff @ 4:30 tomorrow…GO BEARS!

Urlacher & Payton united?

Who would have thought that Urlacher and Payton would ever have the possiblity to play together on the same team? Well, as soon as I run some cables, this highly improbable duo is setup to do just that in my fictional computer world I call my office.

Last weekend I made a stop at CompUSA to pickup a much needed KVM switch for my two computers. I stumbled across this slick 2 switcher, made by Belkin. This hardware will allow me to connect Payton (old computer, test machine) to my new beefy development computer (Urlacher) and switch back and forth during development using one mouse and keyboard.

Web design & development has numerous challenges, none greater than assuring quality with the visual & technical aspects of a site. The ability to make what you envision compatible in numerous browsers, operating systems, and slower CPU’s is quite tedious at times – but absolutely necessary. My old computer (Payton) will allow me to test these certain elements much quicker, and this hardware will make it be a simple click to do so.

It’s almost gametime…

Immersed myself into it last night, was amazed as expected. A beautiful film to say the least. I think Tom Cruise has finally gained some respect from the skeptics of his versatility. I myself have always enjoyed him as an actor, and have always thought he was dynamic actor.

Charles Tillman – what a fantastic play he made for the Bears on Sunday afternoon. Just ripping the ball away from all-pro Randy Moss in the endzone with a minute to go in the game. This defense has got a lot of promise, I’m ecstatic about the energy level, aggressiveness, & poise the 2003 class has brought to the team.

Purchased Elton John’s greatest hits on Sunday, been filtering through the tracks finding some classics that I didn’t realize were his. Also grabbed Blue October’s CD (1 of the bands that opened for Default last month), in love with a few songs already. The band supports a violinist, creates an element in their sound that’s easy to get attached to.

I’ve got 4 good leads with some new A2M work, kinda unexpected with the holidays right around the corner. Hopefully can get some contracts signed at the beginning of the year. Been working on a new A2M corporate site, developing more intricate case studies with a cleaner interface. I’ve also formed a new color palette, moving into some earthly tones with browns and tans to accent the forest greens. Still a lot of work to do to get it up and running.

Went Christmas shopping on Saturday, found some great gifts for my Mother. I finally sent MY list to her, it looks like I might be getting a bike rack for my Jeep. I haven’t rode in forever, would love to get back into it. My Gary Fisher needs a lot of work to hit the trails again – brakes, chains, wider tires, new tube, and some serious cleaning.

LCD Screen, Sister Hazel

I bought a LCD Sony flatscreen from Best Buy and been giving it a run since Friday.

I’ve found some positives with the purchase, but have realized that a CRT is the way to go from a designers standpoint so I’m geting 1 of each. :) More to follow.

Hit up HOB on Saturday night, Sister Hazel was much MUCH more than I had expected – I’ve become a pretty big fan of their style. Weekend continued to be superb all the way up to mid 2nd quarter of the Bears game Sunday afternoon, what an embarassing moment to be a Bears fan. Worst lose in 26 years, and unfortunately it was on kickoff weekend.

Today was just one of those truly inspirational days from many angles. I came across numerous sites and experiences that really influenced me to keep striving for something bigger and better with A2M & the future I have in this industry. I’m in the process of rebranding A2M, so it was helpful while I continued my brainstorm, sketches, and marketing strategy this evening. I can’t reveal anything yet, because I really don’t have any foundational ideas yet. I DO know that I’m looking long term with this, and am wanting to really nail an idea to keep me happy for years to come as I grow and chase some serious clientel.

Mom’s birthday is tomorrow, sending her a nice wok, something she’s been wanting for quite sometime. I’m surprising my Dad with a plane ticket to Orlando next month for his birthday, he hasn’t been here since I graduated from Full Sail in Nov. of ’99.

Still haven’t washed my Jeep, it’s REALLY dirty.
